Ethereum Developers Propose Quantum-Ready Deposit Contract Upgrade
Ethereum developers have proposed a new deposit contract to enhance security against future quantum computing threats. The current BLS-based staking mechanism would be replaced by a post-quantum-ready mechanism as outlined in EIP-7685.
This upgrade aims to protect the network from potential threats posed by advancing quantum computing. It will allow more flexible security tools, which is part of Ethereum's broader plan to update its consensus layer.
ETH trades near $2,480 with strong institutional demand. BlackRock's Ethereum ETF has added $90.9 million in ETH.
