Ethereum developers are currently reviewing and prioritizing proposals for the blockchain's next major upgrade, known as Hegota. Scheduled for deployment in 2027 after the 'Glamsterdam' upgrade later this year, Hegota will focus on addressing key issues such as privacy enhancements.

At the center of discussion is Ethereum Improvement Proposal 8141 (EIP-8141), which would allow users to set their own transaction approval and execution methods. This could enable private transactions without relying on third-party relay services.

Two companion proposals, EIP-8250 and EIP-8272, are also under consideration. These aim to address potential issues related to delayed processing of private transactions and the validation process, respectively.
