Ethereum Devs Narrow Down Hegotá Upgrade Proposals to 66
Ethereum developers are currently reviewing 66 proposals to narrow them down for the next major upgrade, known as Hegotá. Among these proposals, several aim to bring more privacy capabilities into the protocol, which would allow privacy applications to function without relying on intermediaries.
Only one Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP), FOCIL, is currently scheduled for inclusion in the upgrade. However, other proposals such as Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) and Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250) are also being considered to provide protocol primitives for privacy applications.
FOCIL seeks to enable a committee of validators to force pending transactions into blocks, boosting the network's censorship resistance. The other proposals would allow native privacy capabilities within the Ethereum protocol.
