Ethereum Dominates RWA Space with $17.65B in Distributed Value
Ethereum is dominating the blockchain space for tokenized real-world assets (RWA), holding around $17.65 billion in distributed RWA value as of September 7, according to RWA.xyz.
This represents about 45% of the market before stablecoins are included, with approximately 268,000 holders and 2,397 tracked assets. The network also holds over $160 billion in stablecoins, which is excluded from this figure but provides a large dollar liquidity base for tokenized securities.
The mix of RWA on Ethereum is shifting towards money market funds, Treasury products, and institutional credit that can be held on-chain for extended periods, earn yield, and eventually support financing. This profile makes Ethereum look less like a trading platform and more like a balance sheet layer where large positions can be managed.
Traditional asset managers are now adding blockchain infrastructure to existing financial products, such as tokenized US Treasuries. BlackRock's recent launches on Ethereum demonstrate this trend, with the firm introducing OnChain Shares of the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL) in August. This allows eligible investors to hold and transfer those shares through approved Ethereum wallets while BNY acts as transfer agent and tokenization provider.
JPMorgan is also moving in a similar direction, launching JLTXX on public Ethereum in May, seeding the registered US government money market fund with $100 million of its own capital. These developments show that public blockchain infrastructure can become part of ordinary cash management and fund administration rather than remaining a separate crypto experiment.
