Ethereum Ecosystem Sees Accelerated Growth with Layer-2 Advancements
Ethereum's ecosystem saw significant growth and development in August, driven by advancements in layer-2 networks, decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, and privacy-focused applications.
BlackRock expanded its tokenization capabilities on Ethereum, while Gnosis and Whitechain announced plans to transition from independent Layer-1 networks to Ethereum's layer-2 infrastructure. This shift enables synchronous composability, allowing applications on both networks to interact within a single transaction.
Arbitrum activated its ArbOS Elara upgrade, bringing more responsive transaction fees and increased Stylus smart contract capacity fourfold. Whitechain also announced plans to transition from an independent Layer-1 network to an Ethereum layer-2 built on the OP Stack.
The Ethereum ecosystem saw significant growth in DeFi activity, with Aave v4 surpassing $525 million in deposits on Ethereum mainnet and Morpho reaching $880 million in total deposits within less than two months of going live. Uniswap processed over $1 billion in stock token volume on Robinhood Chain, contributing to over $20 billion in total volume since its July launch.
