Ethereum Fees Collapse 99%, Institutional Inflows Soar Amid Bullish Technical Signals
Ethereum's network fees have plummeted by 99% since January 2024, dropping from over $2 to below $0.02, according to data tracked by BMNR Bullz. This significant reduction in cost occurred while the network's throughput roughly doubled, allowing Ethereum to process significantly more activity at a lower price.
The efficiency gains extend to scaling solutions built on top of Ethereum, with median fees across Layer 2 networks falling by approximately 95% over the same period. Decentralized finance platforms and high-frequency users now have fewer barriers to adoption due to dramatically lower costs.
Institutional capital is flowing back into the asset class, with U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs pulling in $244.9 million in net inflows during the week ending August 7. This marked the fifth consecutive week of positive flows, a sharp reversal from the $273.3 million in net outflows recorded in the final week of June.
Crypto Patel, a widely followed market analyst, has mapped Ethereum's performance against a multi-year expansion framework that mirrors historical cycles tied to Bitcoin's halving events. According to Patel's chart, Ethereum's recent correction held within a key accumulation zone, preserving a bullish technical posture.
