Ethereum Foundation Deploys Simplified Staking Tech for Institutional Adoption
The Ethereum Foundation has staked 72,000 ETH using a simplified version of distributed validator technology called DVT-lite. This move is aimed at making distributed staking more accessible to institutions with large ETH holdings.
DVT-lite is a less complex alternative to full DVT, which distributes private keys across many coordinating nodes. However, this approach requires technical expertise and can be difficult to deploy.
The simplified technology takes a different approach by loading the same validator key onto several machines with automatic failover if one machine goes down. This reduces the process to a single command per node, making it more accessible to non-experts.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum Foundation, described the system as a proof-of-concept and plans to use it personally. He hopes that large ETH holders will follow suit and make distributed staking more decentralized.
