Ethereum Foundation Deploys Simplified Validator Tech for Institutional Adoption
The Ethereum Foundation has taken a significant step towards making distributed staking more accessible to institutions by staking 72,000 ETH using a simplified version of distributed validator technology called 'DVT-lite'. Co-founder Vitalik Buterin revealed that this move is aimed at demonstrating the feasibility of DVT-lite as a proof-of-concept for institutional adoption.
The assets are currently sitting in the validator entry queue and will be activated on March 19. This deployment comes as 37.5 million ETH, approximately 31% of the total supply, is already staked on the network. However, control over validator infrastructure has been concentrated among a small number of professional staking providers.
DVT-lite differs from standard solo staking and full DVT in its approach to distributing private keys across coordinating nodes. It takes a simpler method by loading the same validator key onto several machines with automatic failover if one goes down.
