Ethereum Foundation Funds WEBCAT Security Development
The Ethereum Foundation has announced a grant to support the development of WEBCAT (Web-based Code Assurance and Transparency), an open-source project designed to verify website code against a signed manifest.
The funding, part of the Trillion Dollar Security initiative, will go towards creating a verification library that Ethereum wallets can integrate, as well as Chromium-browser research, implementation support, an independent audit, and proposed standardization work.
WEBCAT aims to address a gap between encrypted website connections and code verification by allowing browsers to compare resources delivered by an enrolled site with a signed manifest.
