Ethereum Foundation Hires AI Security Researcher to Protect Core Infrastructure

The Ethereum Foundation is expanding its protocol security team by recruiting an AI security researcher to help identify vulnerabilities in the network's core infrastructure.

The new role comes on the heels of a recent restructuring that eliminated 54 positions, or about 20% of the foundation's workforce.

The researcher will use artificial intelligence, fuzz testing, and manual audits to find weaknesses across Ethereum's execution, consensus, networking, specifications, and client software.

This combination reflects the limits of fully automated security testing, as AI tools can generate large numbers of possible findings but require human researchers to reproduce each issue, assess its impact, and separate genuine vulnerabilities from false positives.
