Ethereum Foundation Locks in Key Upgrades for Hegotá
The Ethereum Foundation has made significant progress in narrowing down the scope of the Hegotá upgrade. After evaluating 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and gathering input from around 60 researchers and engineers, the foundation identified two 'must ship' proposals.
The two EIPs, FOCIL (EIP-7805) and Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), were deemed essential for strengthening Ethereum's censorship resistance and introducing more flexible account authentication. FOCIL aims to give users a path to have eligible transactions included without relying on centralized block builders.
The Foundation designated these two proposals as the consensus and execution-layer headliners for Hegotá, effectively defining the upgrade. If either proposal is at risk, the foundation stated that Hegotá's schedule should adjust before dropping it.
