Ethereum Foundation Pins Down Two Essential Upgrades for Hegotá
The Ethereum Foundation has designated two essential Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) for the upcoming Hegotá upgrade. EIP-7805, known as FOCIL, and EIP-8141, or frame transactions, are now mandatory inclusions.
FOCIL aims to strengthen resistance to transaction censorship by providing a path for transactions to be included in blocks without relying on centralized block builders. Frame transactions would introduce native account abstraction and open a migration path to authentication methods designed to counter attacks from quantum computers.
The Ethereum Foundation said it will adjust the Hegotá timeline if either mandatory EIP encounters difficulties, with implementation potentially beginning as early as late 2026.
