Ethereum Foundation Pins Hopes on Top-Ranked EIPs for Hegotá Upgrade
The Ethereum Foundation has identified two key proposals for the upcoming Hegotá upgrade. After evaluating 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and gathering input from around 60 researchers and engineers, the Foundation designated EIP-7805 (FOCIL) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) as the top priorities.
FOCIL aims to give users a path to have eligible transactions included without relying on centralized block builders, strengthening Ethereum's resistance to transaction censorship. Frame Transactions would introduce native account abstraction and create a path toward post-quantum authentication.
The Foundation ranked 62 proposed EIPs for the Hegotá upgrade, placing 15 in its A-tier, which means they are expected to ship unless development or testing constraints force cuts. The two 'must-ship' proposals define the upgrade's scope and schedule may adjust if either is at risk.
Client teams could begin implementing Hegotá in late 2026 following Glamsterdam, the Ethereum upgrade preceding Hegotá that is focused on improving scalability and strengthening the network's base layer.
