Ethereum Foundation Sets Aggressive Deadline for Quantum Resistance

The Ethereum Foundation has announced its plans for the next major protocol fork, codenamed Hegóta. This upgrade aims to address two key issues: censorship resistance and long-term security architecture. The foundation has designated two proposals as 'must-ship' items for the Hegóta upgrade: FOCIL (EIP-7805) and Frame Transactions (EIP-8141).

FOCIL tackles the problem of dominant block builders excluding certain transactions from the public mempool by giving a committee of validators the power to mandate inclusion. This will strengthen censorship resistance on the network.

Frame Transactions moves account abstraction directly into Ethereum's execution layer, allowing for native account abstraction and post-quantum authentication. It also opens up possibilities for future privacy applications on Ethereum.
