Ethereum Hegotá Upgrade Focuses on Censorship Resistance and Post-Quantum Security
The Ethereum Foundation has reviewed 62 proposals for the Hegotá upgrade and narrowed it down to two top priorities, EIP-7805 (FOCIL) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions). Both of these proposals have been ranked S-tier by the developers, indicating that they are likely to be implemented. FOCIL aims to prevent transaction censorship by enabling transactions to be added to blocks without relying on centralized builders.
Another key proposal is Frame Transactions, which will enhance Ethereum's account-abstraction features and prepare for post-quantum authentication. The upgrade will also address issues with keyed nonces and recent state roots through a suite of related proposals.
In total, 15 EIPs have been ranked A-tier, indicating that they are likely to be implemented unless there are implementation or testing requirements. This includes proposals such as EIP-8015 (removal of obsolete deposit and eth1data field) and EIP-8365 (first step towards withdrawal Ks retirement).
On the other hand, 28 proposals were rejected due to issues with protocol complexities, security concerns, or incompatibility with long-term development goals. The Foundation is awaiting mainnet data from Glamsterdam before making decisions on two additional proposals.
