Ethereum Hegotá Upgrade Proposal List Shrinks to 66
The Ethereum Foundation is reviewing 66 proposals for its upcoming Hegotá upgrade. This major update aims to improve wallet design and privacy applications, reducing their dependence on external relayers.
Toni Wahrstätter, an Ethereum Foundation researcher, stated that the core developer calls will narrow down the list of proposals to those with a realistic chance of shipping in 2027. One central proposal is EIP-8141, Frame Transactions, which would split transactions into frames for authorization, gas payment, and user actions.
This feature could allow wallets to sponsor gas or change authentication methods without moving users to a new address. Companion proposals, such as EIP-8250 and EIP-8272, target privacy bottlenecks by introducing keyed nonces and verified recent roots for frame transactions.
However, it's essential to note that these proposals are still in draft form and have not been approved. The Ethereum Foundation must assess security trade-offs, client complexity, testing capacity, and delivery timelines before implementing any changes.
