Ethereum Interest Surges in Russia Amid Renewed Attention and Growing Demand
Interest in Ethereum has increased significantly in Russia, with Moscow Exchange derivatives market recording a sharp rise in ETH futures interest. Market participants attribute this to various factors, including renewed attention to major crypto assets after Bitcoin and the growing demand for Ethereum's role in DeFi, stablecoins, and applications.
Anatoly Shpakov explains that investors are looking for a new idea after Bitcoin, with demand supported by ETFs, staking, and Ethereum's infrastructure. This has led to an increase in open interest in ETH futures from 86,000 contracts to 368,000 between mid-May and early June.
However, Konstantin Koshelev remains skeptical about the surge in demand, citing concerns over Ethereum's weakness, uncertainty around the Ethereum Foundation, and actions by Vitalik Buterin. He also doubts the reliability of ETFs as a growth multiplier and considers staking only a potential driver.
Fedory Ivanov agrees that interest in Ethereum may have increased due to expectations of ecosystem growth and price recovery after a sharp dip. The near-term price dynamics are influenced by several factors, including news about ETFs and staking, demand for DeFi and decentralized applications, competition with Solana and Tron, and uncertainty about the network's further development.
