Ethereum Launches $2M Attackathon to Bolster Blockchain Security

Ethereum is launching a four-week hackathon, dubbed 'Attackathon', to test its blockchain's security. The event will offer a $2 million reward pool and aim to be the largest crowdsourced security audit of Ethereum's codebase.

The hackathon, hosted by bug bounty platform Immunefi, will begin with a technical walkthrough of the blockchain's code. Participants will then search for vulnerabilities in the protocol's code, following specific rules set for the competition.

The EPS team has contributed $500,000 to the prize pool and is seeking sponsors to raise an additional $1.5 million by August 1. The event is planned to be a regular occurrence, with similar hackathons held at every hard fork covering changes to the codebase.
