Ethereum Leverage Hits Record High as Institutional Staking Continues
Ethereum's derivatives markets are experiencing record-high leverage, reaching an estimated ratio of 0.65 at Binance.
This is a significant increase from the 2022 bear market range of 0.20-0.30 and reflects expanding open interest despite shrinking ETH reserves on the exchange.
The increasing leverage has led to higher volatility, with small price movements potentially triggering larger-than-normal liquidation cascades.
Despite this, institutional investors are showing long-term commitment to Ethereum through staking, with Purpose Investments recently staking 42,000 ETH worth $80 million into the Beacon Deposit Contract.
