Ethereum MVRV Ratio Fuels Bullish Case for $5,000
Ethereum's price has been gaining traction in recent days, with some analysts pointing to a potential target of $5,363 as a possible upside. The MVRV Ratio, which measures the ratio of Ethereum's market capitalization to its realized value, crossed above its 160-day moving average on August 19, forming a golden cross pattern. This signal has been followed by a 34% surge in price, from $1,905 to $2,547.
Whale activity has also picked up during this rally, with wallets holding more than 10,000 ETH increasing by 1.74% over the past week. Seventeen new whale addresses have joined the network, suggesting that larger holders are positioning for further gains rather than preparing to exit. Exchange balances are declining, a trend often tied to reduced selling pressure.
Before Ethereum can approach $5,363, it must contend with a resistance band between $2,722 and $2,970. This zone represents a significant supply wall, with 16.7 million ETH acquired within this range. A concentration of coins bought at similar levels often creates selling pressure as holders look to exit near their entry price.
The $5,000 target will only become more plausible if Ethereum clears its next resistance zone and sustained buying absorbs the supply sitting between $2,722 and $2,970. Whale accumulation and shrinking exchange reserves offer support, but resistance at these levels will determine whether momentum continues or stalls near current prices.
