Ethereum New Addresses Surge as Resistance Level Looms at $2,245
Ethereum's network growth is accelerating, with new addresses surging approximately 75% in just eight days. On August 16, crypto analyst Ali Martinez reported that Ethereum's daily new address count jumped from 121,210 on August 8 to 212,560.
According to Martinez, 'network growth is one of the most powerful on-chain indicators of user adoption.' Historically, sustained increases in new addresses have been followed by significant price appreciation. If this trend continues, it could support both an expanding user base and a favorable price trajectory for Ethereum.
The critical resistance level for Ethereum's near-term direction is $2,245. Martinez noted that Ethereum has broken above its 0.8 MVRV pricing band, which historically precedes significant price appreciation. However, more than 10 million ETH have traded near the $3,000 level, presenting substantial overhead resistance.
Shrinking liquidity in the market could also constrain Ethereum's upside. The two-month change in USDT's market capitalization declined by roughly $4 billion as of early August, with $870 million of that outflow occurring over the most recent 11 days.
