Ethereum Outshines S&P 500 by Over 5,400 Basis Points in Q3
Tom Lee, chairman of Ethereum treasury firm Bitmine (BMNR), has highlighted Ethereum's exceptional performance in recent market trends. According to a report from The Block, Ethereum (ETH) is the top-performing major asset since June 30.
Lee noted that ETH, alongside Bitcoin (BTC) and Solana (SOL), have been the three strongest assets in the current quarter, with Ethereum leading the pack. The cryptocurrency has outperformed the S&P 500 by a striking 5,430 basis points so far in the third quarter.
Bitmine's aggressive accumulation of ETH is also noteworthy, as the company recently purchased an additional 53,501 ETH, increasing its total holdings to 5,901,112 ETH. This amount represents approximately 4.9% of the total Ethereum supply.
Lee's comments come at a time when institutional interest in cryptocurrencies is expanding beyond Bitcoin. The strong performance of ETH, SOL, and other digital assets in Q3 2024 has caught the attention of asset managers and corporate treasuries, potentially accelerating the integration of crypto into traditional financial portfolios.
