Ethereum Overtakes Bitcoin in User Adoption
Ethereum has surpassed Bitcoin in terms of user adoption, according to data from Santiment. The smart-contract platform now boasts an impressive 182.74 million non-empty wallets, a figure that is more than three times the count on the Bitcoin network.
This milestone marks a significant achievement for Ethereum, which has been gaining ground on its competitors over the past decade. In fact, the network's user base has tripled in just a few years, outpacing every other major blockchain in the process.
The gap between Ethereum and Bitcoin is substantial, with the former holding an all-time high of 182.74 million holders, while the latter trails behind at 58.51 million. Tether (USDT) ranks third with 12.96 million addresses, followed by Dogecoin (DOGE), XRP (XRP), USDC (USDC), and Cardano (ADA).
Ethereum's lead is largely attributed to its smart-contract functionality, which supports a wide range of decentralized finance applications and tokens. This structural advantage has compounded over time, driving user adoption and pushing the network's address count into uncharted territory.
