Ethereum Paves Way for Stablecoin Gas Payments in Upcoming Upgrade
Ethereum developers have decided to include Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) in the upcoming Hegotá upgrade scheduled for 2027.
This change will allow users to pay gas fees with stablecoins and other digital assets, without needing to hold Ether directly.
Currently, all transaction fees on Ethereum must be paid in Ether, making it difficult for users to transfer funds between wallets if they do not also hold ETH.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin noted that 'important progress' has been made on Frame-related work over the past few months.
