Ethereum Plans Zero-Burn Threshold for Validator Rewards
Ethereum researchers have proposed a new mechanism to adjust the blockchain's monetary policy. The proposal, known as EIP-8361, suggests burning validator rewards as more ETH enters the staking system.
The burn rate would increase with higher staking participation, and when around 60.25 million ETH are actively staked, representing nearly half of Ethereum's current supply, new ETH issuance would reach zero.
The proposal aims to balance validator incentives and long-term network security by adjusting the reward structure linked to validator activities such as attestations, block proposals, and sync committee participation.
