Ethereum Poised for Major Gains Against Bitcoin on Stronger Tailwinds
Tom Lee, managing partner of Fundstrat and chairman of BitMine Immersion (BMNR), believes that Ethereum (ETH) is poised for significant gains against Bitcoin (BTC) in the years to come. According to Lee, the tailwinds driving Ethereum's growth are stronger than ever before, fueled by Wall Street's increasing adoption of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence integrating with blockchain.
In previous cycles, the ETH/BTC ratio saw substantial increases during bull markets due to factors such as Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and stablecoins. Lee notes that these tailwinds were smaller than what is expected in the next few years, citing Wall Street's tokenization on the blockchain and agentic-AI using blockchains as key catalysts.
The current ETH/BTC ratio of 0.02964 BTC ($1,906) may not reflect the full potential of Ethereum's growth against Bitcoin, according to Lee. He expects the ETH/BTC ratio to make a 'sizable move higher' in the next few years, driven by increasing use of Ethereum relative to Bitcoin.
Lee's comments build on analysis of Ethereum's growing adoption and usage across cycles, positioning new institutional and technological applications as key drivers of its growth.
