Ethereum Position Closed as Binance Reserves Plummet
A high-risk Ethereum position was recently closed after its notional value neared $100 million. The leveraged long, which had been bet on a rise in ETHUSD, was covered with 41,000 ETH at an entry price of $2,443.44 and liquidation price of $2,342.15. This move came as the market price of Ethereum hovered around $2,405.
In related news, Binance's exchange reserves for ETH have declined to approximately 14.92 million from a peak of 16.9 million in January. This decrease is significant as it indicates that more users are holding onto their Ethereum rather than depositing it into exchanges. The drop in reserves comes on the heels of $1.852 billion net ETF inflows in August, adding to the year's total of $734 million.
Additionally, BitMine has acquired 53,501 ETH worth approximately $131 million and added it to its corporate treasury. This purchase could have implications for traders who use exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as their primary trading tool, particularly those using spot CFDs. The influx of ETF-driven flows in August saw about $1.85 billion net inflows across 11 consecutive sessions, with BlackRock's ETHA being a top contributor.
