Ethereum Price Action at Odds with Strong Fundamentals
Ethereum's price has been stuck in a slow grind lower for much of 2026, but the fundamentals are telling a different story. Despite trading under $1,740 and forming a double bottom pattern near $1,800, institutional adoption is at record highs, with Ethereum commanding 52.5% of the tokenized real-world assets sector's market share.
The network has seen significant upgrades, including the Fusaka and Pectra deployments, which have delivered scalability gains and fee efficiency improvements. This infrastructure has attracted major players like Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Holdings, which has piloted Ethereum for a live production issuance of Japan's first trust-based yen stablecoin.
The Lean Ethereum roadmap, published by Vitalik Buterin, outlines the protocol's plans to replace almost every core layer by 2030 while keeping existing decentralized applications intact. This includes shifting verification away from direct re-execution toward recursive STARKs and introducing new state categories with scalability improvements.
