Ethereum Price Breaks Above $2,370, Faces Overbought Signals
Ethereum's price surged 17.1% in a single day to push above $2,370, taking its weekly gain beyond 20%. This significant move followed weeks of tightening consolidation and is largely attributed to ETF inflows, short liquidations, and stronger risk appetite.
The US spot Ether ETFs recorded $189 million in net inflows on August 19, with BlackRock's ETHA accounting for about $122 million of that total. This influx of capital forced traders with leveraged short positions to close their bets, leading to over $1 billion in Ether shorts being liquidated during the initial breakout.
Market analysts are watching the $2,450 weekly close closely, as a sustained break above this level could expose $2,500 and potentially lead to a move towards $3,000. However, Ethereum's daily RSI has reached 86.12, indicating overbought conditions and raising concerns of a potential pullback.
The proposed SEC Regulation Crypto Assets framework, published on August 18, has also contributed to the improved regulatory backdrop for US investors, adding to the market catalysts driving Ethereum's price surge.
