Ethereum Price Consolidation: Can Tom Lee's $6,000 Target Be Reached?
Ethereum's price has been consolidating above $2,500 after a strong August rally that took it from around $1,900 to over $2,500. According to Tom Lee, Ethereum could reach $6,000 by December, but this target comes with a significant caveat.
Lee's formula requires Bitcoin to make a specific magnitude move in a single quarter, which has never happened before. This suggests that ETH's price action will depend on the performance of its larger counterpart.
Currently, ETH is trading above $2,450 and has been consolidating within a rising wedge beneath a $2,500-$2,550 resistance band. Analysts believe that breaking through this level could lead to further gains, potentially reaching $2,800 or even $3,000-$3,200.
However, the scenario map is not without risks, and a rejection at resistance would send ETH back towards the 20-day EMA near $2,320. The deeper invalidation zone is around $2,161. It's worth noting that reaching $6,000 would require an enormous increase of roughly 2.4 times from its current price.
