Ethereum Price Divergence: From $3,200 to $10,000 by Year-End
Ethereum's price has been on a wild ride lately, reaching multi-month highs near $2,527 in late August. As of September 3, it's trading at $2,407.72, up by 28.4% but down roughly 3.6% over the past 7 days. Despite its volatility, Ethereum remains the second-largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of $293.85 billion and a circulating supply of 122.015 million ETH.
But what's really going on here? Are we looking at a true breakout or just a consolidation? Researcher Geoffrey Kendrick from Standard Chartered projects an end-2026 target of $4,000 for Ethereum, linking price to network usage metrics. Michaël van de Poppe, a trader, predicts a breakout toward $3,200 and advises holders to avoid early exits.
Then there's Arthur Hayes, BitMEX co-founder, who targets ETH $10,000 by year-end, basing his forecast on speculative macro conditions. But what about the market itself? The immediate market is consolidating, not trending, with Ethereum recovering sharply in August only to fail to hold its upper end of this week's band.
