Ethereum Price Hinges on Glamsterdam Upgrade Progress Ahead of August 20 Fork
The Ethereum Foundation has started testing the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Plataberget testnet. This marks an important step before the planned changes can reach the Ethereum mainnet, with a fork scheduled for August 20.
The Glamsterdam upgrade will bring changes to several parts of the network, including gas pricing, block production structure, transaction capacity, and limits for smart contracts.
However, the current test should not be treated as a mainnet launch. Plataberget is an early testing stage, and the upgrade still has to move through broader testnets before it can be considered for Ethereum's main network.
The immediate focus is on how the tests perform. If the process moves as planned, developers will have more information on how Glamsterdam handles the proposed changes before any mainnet decision is made.
