Ethereum Price Mired by Stagnant Spot Demand Amid Tightening Supply
Ethereum's price has been hovering around $1,900 despite several factors indicating a tightening supply and increasing demand. Exchange reserves have dropped about 10% since January, with aggregate exchange balances down to 15.12 million ETH from 16.86 million in January.
This decline represents roughly 1.74 million ETH, close to 10% of the available supply to sell on exchanges. Large-holder movement is also below recent averages, and staking has climbed above 34% of the circulating supply, with validators choosing to keep their coins staked rather than selling.
In addition, spot buying on US venues remains weak, with the Coinbase Premium Index holding negative since early May and sitting near -0.069.
