Ethereum Price Outlook: Volatility Ahead in September
Ethereum's recent surge in price may be short-lived as it enters September after one of its strongest months this year. The altcoin gained approximately 32.6% in August, following a 18.5% rise in July, but historical data suggests that the next several weeks could be considerably more volatile.
The influx of institutional funds into Ethereum has been significant, with US spot Ether ETFs attracting about $824.41 million during the week ending August 28. The combined Bitcoin and Ether ETF trading volume also more than tripled to roughly $29 billion in September. This trend continued into the first few days of the month, with Ethereum ETFs recording net inflows of around $10.95 million on September 1.
However, seasonality could give traders one reason for caution, as historical data shows that Ethereum has averaged a loss of approximately -6.84% in September over the past decade, with positive returns in only about 33% of observed years. Moreover, macroeconomic risks are increasing, with oil prices rising due to the conflict involving Iran and bond yields strengthening inflation concerns.
