Ethereum Prioritizes Privacy and Quantum Safety
Vitalik Buterin has updated Ethereum's roadmap to prioritize privacy and quantum safety. He compared the new plan to the original 'Strawmap' and highlighted key changes, including the addition of mechanisms for hiding user activity and balances.
The updated roadmap includes features like privacy pools and wormholes, which allow value transfers without exposing full transaction histories. Quantum security has also been elevated in priority and is now part of a broader effort called 'Lean-ification', which aims to revise or replace nearly every core component of the protocol.
Zero-knowledge STARK proofs have become a fundamental building block for multiple layers of the protocol, including the execution layer, consensus layer, and data layer. Native rollups are also now part of the plan, made possible by advances in SNARK technology.
