Ethereum Prioritizes Privacy and Quantum Security in New Roadmap
Vitalik Buterin has released Ethereum's latest roadmap, dubbed the 'Strawmap,' which outlines the network's priorities through 2029. The Strawmap is a living document that can be revised as needed.
One of the key differences between the old roadmap and the new one is the emphasis on strong privacy. Buterin notes that mechanisms to hide user activity and balances, like privacy pools, are now considered essential.
The network is also prioritizing quantum-related updates, with a focus on making Ethereum 'Lean', a term that refers to a series of upgrades aimed at replacing or revising nearly every core piece of the protocol. This includes potentially swapping out the Ethereum Virtual Machine for alternative computing formats like RISC-V and leanISA.
Zero-knowledge tools and frameworks will also play a greater role in Ethereum's future, with SNARKs, a type of ZK cryptographic proof, being considered mature enough for complicated scaling efforts.
