Ethereum Privacy Proposal Creates Uncertainty Over Public Access
A proposal to modify Ethereum's proposed Frames transaction design has left public access uncertain. The change, submitted by AnkushinDaniil on September 5, would allow some nodes to accept privacy transactions that exceed a shared validation allowance.
Currently, EIP-8141 caps signature checks and execution in the initial validation phase at 100,000 gas. However, a recent benchmark reported an optimized Groth16 proof verifier requiring 190,628 gas, already above this proposed limit.
The proposed change would turn the existing validation maximum into a common floor, with nodes having to propagate qualifying transactions within it while capable nodes could accept more expensive ones locally.
