Ethereum Proposal Aims to Slash Consensus Issuance by 33,800 ETH
A new Ethereum proposal, EIP-8390, aims to reduce annual consensus issuance by approximately 33,800 ETH. The proposal would eliminate the network's 512-validator sync committee and replace it with off-chain zero-knowledge proofs for finality signals.
The current Altair light-client interface would become obsolete under this plan, and deployed clients that use LightClientUpdate would stop working at the fork. However, a replacement proving service and migration interface have not been specified yet.
According to the proposal, removing the sync committee's reward weight would reduce annual consensus issuance by 33,800 ETH, but the removed share does not translate directly to a cut in every validator's total realized yield.
