Ethereum Proposal Seeks to Cut Consensus Issuance by 33,800 ETH

A new Ethereum proposal, Draft EIP-8390, seeks to overhaul the network's sync committee and replace it with off-chain zero-knowledge proofs.

The proposal would remove the rewards for the sync committee, which currently consists of 512 validators, and reduce annual consensus issuance by approximately 33,800 ETH.

The removal of the sync committee would also break every deployed Altair light client, as they rely on the current interface. The affected projects include Helios, Lodestar, Nimbus, and Datachain's Ethereum IBC client.
