Ethereum Protocol Advances Amid Growing Institutional Interest
Ethereum's protocol development continues to advance with a new proposal aimed at reducing the storage burden on node operators. EIP-12188, introduced by developer kevaundray, suggests shortening the retention period for historical block data in consensus layer clients.
The goal is to ease the strain of storing ever-growing block history, allowing nodes to run more efficiently and cost-effectively. Major consensus layer client Lighthouse has expressed support for the proposal, indicating a smooth transition through further review stages may be possible.
Outside of protocol development, Moscow Exchange announced plans to launch perpetual futures contracts for Bitcoin and Ethereum, targeting professional investors. This expansion aims to provide more flexible position management for traders, with no fixed expiration date and automatic rollover.
