Ethereum Researchers Propose Simplified Blob Recovery Design

Ethereum's growing rollup ecosystem is putting an increasingly heavy load on its nodes' computing power, but researchers may have found a way to ease this burden.

A recent report by Csaba Kiraly describes a reduced design for assigning blob-recovery duties among nodes. Simulations of this design showed an 11-18 times reduction in estimated reconstruction computing work across 1,000-node networks.

The simulations compared the reduced design to Ethereum's current PeerDAS model and found that it could reduce network-wide reconstruction costs by as much as 91% under certain conditions. However, these results are based on simulated networks using real cryptography, and further testing is needed to confirm their validity.
