Ethereum Roars Ahead with Record-Breaking Third Quarter Performance
Ethereum wrapped up its third quarter with a significant gain, making it one of the strongest periods in its history. The network's price surged by approximately 66.55% from July to September, outperforming Bitcoin's relatively modest gain of 6-10% over the same period.
The rally was driven by three major catalysts: spot Ethereum ETFs attracting nearly $4 billion in capital in August alone, corporate treasuries purchasing ETH exceeding $15 billion during Q3, and decentralized finance (DeFi) momentum building beneath the surface, with total value locked across Ethereum-related chains reaching approximately $88 billion.
Ethereum's price action was notable, trading above $4,000 at times and approaching the $5,000 level before pulling back 5.73% in September. Analysts have noted that this quarter's gains differ structurally from prior Ethereum bull runs, with institutional fingerprints all over them.
