Ethereum Scaling Strategy Combines Bitcoin and Dynamic State Elements
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined the proposed Ethereum scaling strategy, which combines elements of Bitcoin's UTXO architecture and Ethereum's dynamic state. The proposal aims to reduce the burden on nodes while maintaining decentralization and censorship resistance.
The native UTXO-like payments proposal from Toni Wahrstätter targets one-shot payments that do not require persistent smart-contract state, reducing permanent state usage by approximately 99.8%. This approach is part of Ethereum's wider effort to reduce verification and storage burdens.
Vitalik Buterin's recursive-STARK mempool research tackles proof bandwidth, assuming highly optimized STARK proofs of around 128 kB. This model proposes combining validity proofs recursively instead of attaching a separate large proof to every object being propagated.
