Ethereum Seeks to Cut Cryptography Costs with Aggregated STARK Proofs
Ethereum developers Vitalik Buterin and Thomas Coratger have proposed EIP-8288, a plan to reduce high gas costs associated with advanced cryptography on Ethereum.
The proposal involves aggregating multiple STARK proofs into a single proof, which would shift much of the cryptographic verification off-chain. This could potentially lower fees and enable new privacy features.
EIP-8288 also supports post-quantum signatures and private account abstractions for enhanced security and privacy.
However, EIP-8288 remains in draft form with no set deployment date, requiring further development, audits, and consensus before activation in a future network upgrade.
