Ethereum Sees Surge in Institutional Buying Amidst Market Downturn
SharpLink Gaming and BitMine Immersion are two companies that have recently made significant moves in the Ethereum market. SharpLink disclosed a $394.3 million net loss for Q2, largely due to unrealized depreciation on its Ethereum portfolio and impairment charges related to liquid staking derivatives.
However, the company's operational performance showed improvement, with total revenue increasing to $11.5 million compared to $0.7 million in the prior year period.
BitMine Immersion, on the other hand, executed a 3 million share buyback and purchased an additional 7,931 ETH within the past week, expanding its total reserves to 5.805 million ETH. The company's staking positions have grown significantly, with approximately 5.067 million ETH actively staked via its Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN), producing annualized staking income of around $257 million.
Total Ethereum staked has reached an unprecedented 41.7 million ETH, representing about one-third of the entire circulating token supply. This milestone comes despite a decline in Ethereum's market value from roughly $3,400 to around $1,900 throughout the same timeframe.
