Ethereum Sets Tentative Date for Glamsterdam Upgrade on Sepolia Testnet
Ethereum developers have set a tentative date of October 6 for the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Sepolia testnet, but it depends on private devnet testing producing a stable network.
The September 1 launch of Devnet-9 with 1,000 validator nodes exposed problems, and EF developer operations engineer Stefan Starflinger noted that 'it showed that there are still quite a few edge cases and issues' left to address.
The testing phase is crucial for the upgrade's success, as the previous devnet, Devnet-8, had a bug that could freeze the entire network if a validator proposed a block sharing its parent's hash.
Developers are also waiting on the outcome of another devnet, Devnet-11, which will determine whether October 6 remains a viable option for the Sepolia testnet upgrade.
