Ethereum Shifts Focus to Quantum Security and AI-Assisted Verification
Ethereum's co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined the network's changing priorities in the face of emerging threats from quantum computers and advances in artificial intelligence. He notes that since publishing his roadmap in 2023, Ethereum has elevated its focus on quantum security and privacy.
The network is increasingly relying on STARKs (probabilistic zero-knowledge proofs) to verify computations and AI-assisted formal verification to ensure the protocol works as intended. Buterin believes this can only be done safely with modern AI tools.
Ethereum's roadmap also includes native rollups, which are designed to improve scalability and reduce costs for users. The network is exploring a future beyond the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), which has been in place since the network's inception.
