Ethereum Shifts Usage as Global Projects Drive On-Chain Activity
Ethereum's ETH token is shifting its usage from exchange-based speculation to on-chain activity. This shift in demand, driven by global projects and whales accumulating tokens for staking and withdrawal, has led to a contraction of exchange reserves. In contrast, US institutions are slowing down their demand for digital treasury companies.
Ethereum's rising gas prices have made on-chain activities viable again, leading to an increase in new contract deployments. Over 500K contracts were deployed in the last week of July, with DeFi contracts being the busiest category based on ETH burns. The SeaDrop NFT contract was also among the most active as of August 3.
The Ethereum validator exit queue is almost empty, with just 6.6 ETH waiting for withdrawal. Over 2.4M ETH are waiting to be staked and start receiving rewards. This indicates a growing interest in staking and other on-chain activities.
