Ethereum Soars 30% in August on ETF Inflows and Whale Accumulation
Ethereum (ETH) has seen significant gains in August, rising by over 30% to its best-performing month since July 2025. This marks two consecutive positive months for the top altcoin as it recovers from a nearly 70% drop between October and June.
The recovery is largely attributed to the influx of funds into Ethereum spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which attracted $1.85 billion in net inflows, its best month in over a year. This trend has been ongoing for 11 days, with only four negative days throughout the month.
Major wallet cohorts have also seen significant rotation during this period. Investors with a balance of 10K-100K ETH, known as whales, accumulated 430K ETH in August, while retail investors offloaded 447K and 292K ETH, respectively.
