Ethereum Soars Over 30% in August on ETF Inflows and Whale Accumulation
Ethereum's price has surged over 30% in August, driven by sustained inflows into spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and notable accumulation by large holders, or 'whales', as reported by CryptoRank. This rebound marks a significant gain for the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, as of August 2025.
The primary catalyst behind ETH's price appreciation is the consistent net inflows into spot Ethereum ETFs, indicating growing institutional interest. On-chain analytics reveal that whale addresses have been accumulating, reducing the available supply on exchanges. This combination of demand-side pressure and supply tightening has pushed ETH's price from around $2,500 at the start of August to above $3,300 by month's end.
The approval of spot Ethereum ETFs in the United States earlier this year has opened the door for traditional financial institutions to gain exposure to ETH without directly holding the asset. These investment vehicles have attracted significant capital, reflecting a broader trend of digital asset adoption within regulated financial markets.
